Celebrating  Exeter's

Roman  heritage

Exeter Gin

Exeter's own premium gin made in small batches and produced in a traditional copper still. This robust yet smooth gin celebrates Exeter's Roman heritage and occupation between circa AD55 and AD380, "ISCA Dumnoniorum' describing flowing water in reference to the the River Exe. Using ancient botanicals favoured by the Romans such as tarragon, basil, cardamom, cinnamon & marigold combined with 11 other botanicals. The result is an outstanding gin experience.

BOTANICALS

Our distillers have carefully selected 16 different botanicals to create Exeter Gin's unique flavour. In line with Exeter's Roman heritage subtle tones of Tarragon, Basil, Cardamon and Marigold combine with a light spicy finish from the Pink & Black Peppercorns. High quality Juniper berries give the gin a full depth of flavour balanced with the other botanicals resulting in an exceptionally smooth and desirable gin.

NOTES & TONES

This blend of botanicals gives Exeter Gin it's unique, robust and rich flavour. Upon first taste the prominent Juniper is complimented with citrus tones from the dried Orange and Grapefruit peel. These then combine beautifully with English Coriander, Angelica Root, All Spice, Cubeb & Goji Berries along with cinnamon to give the gin a distinctive finish.

The taste test

Producing this locally crafted gin has been a true labour of love for our family run business. We have been overwhelmed by the response from both friends, family and customers. We are confident that Exeter now has, at long last, it's very own gin of which it can be very proud.

the story

the perfect serve

The invading seafaring Viking warriors would demand nothing less than a powerful drink before embarking upon their quest.

Ivaar The Boneless, son of Ragnar Lodbrok, was a Viking leader and a commander who invaded what is now England, along with his brother Halfdan, in 866. Some say Ivaar was 9' tall and was a ruthless, fearsome invader. In 870 he began an attack on the Southwest, known as Wessex. 872 saw Ivaar's death. so whilst Halfdan went North, Guthrum (another Viking King) joined the invading forces and, five years later. laid force at Exeter, only to be kicked out by our cake burning King, Alfred the Great!

tasting notes

Using Exeter Gin's recipe, tones of smooth baked Valencia orange and cinnamon are combined with an intense explosion of juniper and the richness of tarragon and all spice, creating a robust yet smooth finish. Ivaar The Boneless does an impressive job of intensifying the notes and tones in Exeter Gin, making a gin lover's favourite.

Ivaar is best served simply, either neat or over ice, to appreciate its robust yet smooth finish. For those who prefer a traditional G & T, orange peel and a stick of cinnamon topped with a regular tonic over ice.
